Northern Illinois Food Bank recently received a $6,035.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1983 by Sister Rosemarie Burian through an initiative known as the Bethlehem Center in Carol Stream, Illinois, the organization began with just a few volunteers and distributed around 7,000–64,000 pounds of food in its first year. Today, as a certified affiliate of Feeding America, NIFB serves 13 counties across suburban and rural Northern Illinois via four distribution centers (in Geneva, Lake Forest, Rockford, and Joliet) and partners with more than 900 food pantries, shelters, and feeding programs. Its mission is to provide nutritious food and resources for our neighbors, with dignity, equity, and convenience, through partnerships and innovation, striving toward a vision where every person in Northern Illinois has the food they need to thrive. Serving roughly 250,000 meals per day, NIFB mobilizes nearly 1,000 volunteers weekly to evaluate, repack, and distribute millions of meals annually, helping 450,000 neighbors each month with nutritious food and support.
