Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana recently received a $1,305.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1983, the organization began as a community-driven effort in Muncie to combat rising hunger by leveraging local support, from philanthropists and volunteers, to deliver food where it was most needed. Its guiding mission is “to provide help for today by feeding the hungry and hope for tomorrow by addressing the causes of food insecurity while empowering people toward self‑sufficiency.” The Food Bank serves eight east‑central Indiana counties through over 95 partner agencies. Serving as the region’s largest hunger-relief organization, Second Harvest distributes millions of meals annually, reaching tens of thousands. Many of them children and seniors, via programs including its signature Tailgate drive-through distributions, school pantries, mobile events, Senior Safety Net, and the Forward STEPS poverty-alleviation initiative.
