Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina recently received a $2,505.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina was founded in 1981 as a project of the Charlotte Area Fund, becoming an independent nonprofit in early 1983 under the original name Metrolina Food Bank. Within 15 months of incorporation, it joined Feeding America, the nationwide hunger-relief network. Its mission is straightforward and powerful: to feed hungry people by soliciting and distributing food and household items through partner agencies, while also educating communities about hunger and advocating for meaningful solutions. Serving a broad 24‑county footprint across North and South Carolina, SHFBM distributes over 70–78 million pounds of food annually, nearly half of which is fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Their network spans 950+ partner agencies, including soup kitchens, shelters, senior programs, and programs for veterans and children.
