Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio recently received a $1,315.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio was established in 1982 by a coalition led by Jeptha Carroll and the Nord family to address local food insecurity in Lorain, Erie, Huron, and Crawford counties. Originally known as “County Cupboard,” the organization later adopted the Second Harvest name and built Ohio’s first purpose-built food bank facility. Its mission is to grow hope in our region by creating pathways to nutritious food, with a vision of fostering a healthier, hunger‑free community throughout its service area. The Food Bank collects donated and purchased food and distributes it through over 100 partner agencies, including food pantries, hot meal programs, mobile pantries, and child and senior serving initiatives. In recent years, it has significantly expanded its capacity, including opening the Nordson Food Distribution Center in 2015, tripling its storage and distribution capability. As of 2024, Second Harvest distributes well over 12 million pounds of food annually, helping tens of thousands of individuals and families in its communities.
