Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley recently received a $1,755.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley traces its roots to The Food Assistance Warehouse, formed in the early 1980s by local lay and religious leaders in Youngstown, Ohio. It was formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in December 1982 and later became a certified affiliate of Feeding America in 1994. Its mission is to solicit, store, and distribute food to hunger‑relief organizations serving Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties, while also providing community education and public policy advocacy efforts. Today, the Food Bank supports a network of over 160 partner agencies, including food pantries, mobile pantries, shelters, and senior assistance programs, to provide food assistance to more than 18,000 people per week. In 2023 and 2024 combined, they distributed over 9.5 million pounds of food, including 2.5 million pounds of fresh produce, while leveraging initiatives like Harvest for Hunger and Feed Our Valley to strengthen reach through both donations and local partnerships.
