Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest N.C recently received a $10,100.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in October 1982 in Winston‑Salem in a modest warehouse, Second Harvest began with a first donation of 3,000 hot dog buns and distributed just under 9,000 pounds of food in its inaugural year. Since then, it has grown into the primary hunger-relief hub for 18 counties in Northwest North Carolina, distributing over 35 million pounds of food annually (equivalent to about 30 million meals), and collaborating with more than 470 partner programs across the region. Their mission is to ensure EVERYONE DESERVES TO EAT, grounded in the principle that access to food is a fundamental right. They aim to feed communities while addressing the root causes of food insecurity through programs like mobile pantries, nutrition education, workforce development, and disaster response.
